The Racine County Sheriff's Department Snowmobile Patrol is a Department of
Natural Resources subsidized program. The Snowmobile Patrol enforces snowmobile
violations on local rivers, lakes, trails, and on private property. Some of the
violations the Patrol looks for are operating snowmobiles while intoxicated,
unsafe operation, prohibited operation, and lack of snowmobile registration.
The Snowmobile Patrol operates two (2) Polaris Indy Trail Deluxe Sleds that are
marked as Patrol Units with Sheriff graphics and red and blue strobe lights.
The sleds are usually towed to a site and dropped off. Deputies spend their 8
hour shift, mostly on weekends, patrolling various areas within Racine County
to make snowmobiling safer for all to enjoy.
The Snowmobile Patrol will be working with the Department of Natural Resources
in the future to establish snowmobile safety courses and regular law
enforcement patrol to insure that Racine County is a safe place to snowmobile.
